How it’s the essential ingredient in photography, and how we can use it creatively and wonderfully in so many ways!
In today's video though, I'll be sharing the easiest (and best) type of light for taking flattering images whether it's portraits or things that you love... and where you can find it around your home for everyday shots.
I’m a huge advocate for simplicity, and mastering this technique will ensure your photos move beyond the realm of ‘snapshot’ into photos that are more striking!
What is Negative Space you ask? It's a compositional tool where you include an abundance of open space around the main subject of an image. It's a classing and popular technique in art, design and architecture and can create unexpected and dynamic impact in a photo when used well.
Negative space is a simple way to show off a subject, but can be tricky to achieve the perfect balance, so watch today's video to see how to put it in action to improve your photos!
So we know that we can hit that b&w filter button on instagram, but sometimes no matter the filter we use, our black & white photos just end up looking flat and grey.
So what makes a great black and white? A beautiful b&w photo will be rich in tones from light to dark. It might be dramatic, artistic, eye catching and richly textured. And it’s true that we can turn any photo b&w – but that alone won't ensure we achieve this beautiful look. We need our photos to have a good variety of contrast and tones, and in this video I'll show you exactly how to do just that.
The elusive background blur! That 'pro-looking' technique helps your subject stand out, it looks beautiful and will elevate the quality of your photos.
It's where you focus on your subject and the background falls away into blur behind them... it's super fun to play with and perhaps even easier to achieve than you think.
No fancy gear required, even if you're shooting with your kit lens, you can take these beautiful images... and in today's video I'll show you the exact steps and settings you need!
